New York, NY 6 August 2013 – Lingerie Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2014 followed up its February debut with a season that came, saw and delivered – almost literally, this past weekend in New York. The Metropolitan Suite staged shows ranging from 24 karat gold thread at Rococo Dessous to burlesque at Dita Von Teese Stockings by Secrets in Lace to an army of expecting models taking the runway in heels at You! Lingerie Nursing + Maternity. The season saw a number of lingerie trends ranging from pin-up to pinstripes to bohemian to neons, beauty trends from feathers to punk to space age to 40s bombshell. LingerieFW SS14 showcased ten designers and one special exhibition over August 1st – 3rd, with Sponsor Lounge happenings including a Java Monster Coffee Lounge, Cotton Installation hosted by Cotton Incorporated, Press Lounge with charging stations hosted by The Lingerie Addict, and a Boudoir Photo Installation from Angelica Roberts Boudoir Photography. The three-day event wrapped on Saturday, August 3rd with a Closing Party benefitting non-profit Bright pink, featuring an exclusive Pop Up Exhibit from the Morris-Jumel Mansion Museum: “The Loves of Aaron Burr: Portraits in Corsetry & Binding” by artist and couturier Camilla Huey.

Headquartered in Japan and currently counting three New York storefronts including Soho & Madison Ave, BRADELIS NEW YORK kicked off Lingerie Fashion Week Thursday night with a Runway Show followed by a Presentation & Cocktail Reception. Guests including plus size model and star of NUVOtv’s “Curvy Girls” Denise Bidot sipped libations courtesy of Cayum and Lotus Vodka. Friday morning brought a joint presentation between indie designers Lola Haze and Uye Surana, each showcasing lingerie & loungewear with distinct ready-to-wear influences. Rococo Dessous 24 Karat Gold Lingerie followed by debuting their first bridal collection, sending gilded models down a candle lit runway lined with rose petals. Day two wrapped with a fusion of runway & burlesque from worldwide retro-inspired lingerie & stockings leader Secrets in Lace, featuring looks from Secrets in Lace, Bettie Page Lingerie & Stockings and Dita Von Teese Stockings. The show opened with a special video introduction from Dita Von Teese herself, featuring a mid-show burlesque performance from Ginger Valentine, Missy Lisa and Angie B’Lovely of The Ruby Revue. Expecting this? Saturday opened with fashion forward nursing & maternity line You! Lingerie, sending maternity models from Expecting Models, Inc. down the runway in a flurry of hot pink heels and punk-inspired hair & makeup. LA & Hawaii based NOE Undergarments followed with a progressive installation of grave faced models in subdued orange wigs (think The 5th Element) clad in the line’s signature lingerie-RTW fusion. Taking the stage as the season’s finale, global lingerie powerhouse and full bust leader Affinitas & Parfait sent looks down a Secret Garden-inspired runway lined and anchored in florals while Cynthia Decker andMolly Hopkins of Lifetime’s Double Divas sat front row. Guests at the Official Closing Party benefitting non-profit Bright Pink were treated to an exclusive Morris-Jumel Mansion Museum Pop Up Exhibit held in conjunction with the Historic House Trust’s Contemporary Art Partnerships initiative: “The Loves of Aaron Burr: Portraits in Corsetry & Binding” by artist and couturier Camilla Huey. Couture corsets infused with hand transcribed letters and ephemera lined the runway while Cayrum and Lotus Vodka served up celebratory cocktails in honor of a successful second season.

In between shows guests were privy to a Press Lounge with charging stations and a live Twitter feed tracking #LingerieFashionWeek hosted by The Lingerie Addict, the world’s #1 lingerie blogger with 150K+ uniques a month and a combined social media following of over 80,000. Proving what really lies beneath, Cotton Incorporated hosted a Cotton Lounge and Installation, showcasing cotton-rich looks from varying designers ranging from Eberjey and Cosabella to LingerieFW designers Lola Haze and Uye Surana. Keeping press, influencers, designers, models and guests refreshed, Java Monster joined as Official Beverage to LingerieFW, hosting a Java Monster Lounge manned by Nevaeh Intimates-clad Java Girls and stocked with chilled coffee beverages Mean Bean, Loca Moca, Kona Cappuccino and Vanilla Light. Guests in need of a treat also snacked on Fudge, Orange Cream and Coffee ice cream bars from ENLIGHTENED: The-Good-For-You-Ice-Cream. Bridging the worlds of lingerie, art and seduction, Angelica Roberts Boudoir Photography showcased a Photo Installation, giving away a free boudoir photography session to one lucky guest. Having only been offered the tradeshow platform in the past, LingerieFW™ is the first Fashion Week to emerge worldwide exclusively dedicated to intimate apparel. Lingerie Fashion Week offers both emerging & established brands ranging from lingerie, loungewear and sleepwear to shapewear, hosiery, lingerie accessories & men’s underwear the opportunity to come together as an industry, collectively showcasing new collections via the exciting, progressive and press-driven Fashion Week platform. Event branding is sleek, sophisticated, fashion forward and most importantly innovative, providing a compelling hub designed to propel the intimates industry forward, while giving brands a dynamic stage for maximum media exposure.

Why a Lingerie Fashion Week now? Once considered a niche category, intimate apparel has recently exploded into the forefront of consumerism, having seen a dynamic surge of recognition particularly within the past few years. The industry is now prevalent in just about every area of pop culture, while innerwear-as-outerwear has moved on from being marked a passing trend to an omnipresent, permanent fixture in fashion worldwide. The U.S. women’s intimates and hosiery market alone grew to $14 billion in 2011, up from $13 billion in 2010 (Source: Citi ), showing growth in the mid to high single digits per year versus low to mid single digits per year for women’s apparel overall. (Source: Citi ). Says LingerieFW™ Founder & Director Lauren Rich:

“It is safe to say intimate apparel has successfully staked its claim as a power player in the greater fashion industry, and as such deserves a high visibility, influential platform to collectively give its growing force of brands their due voice. The goal of LingerieFW™ is to give this voice to the hundreds of beautiful, innovative intimates designers & brands via a channel not only reaching industry but also the consumer – spotlighting & elevating the industry as a whole. Through LingerieFW™, we want to make lingerie & intimates designers household names just as their womenswear counterparts are.”

LingerieFW™ is open to both emerging & established brands worldwide within the following categories: lingerie, loungewear, sleepwear, shapewear, hosiery, lingerie solutions, lingerie accessories, men’s underwear, men’s sleepwear and men’s loungewear.
